The Details
What: Online webinar with Jared Qwustenuxun Williams
When: Tuesday, October 14th, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm PST
On October 14th, join renowned Indigenous Chef and Knowledge Keeper Jared Qwustenuxun Williams as he shares stories from his grandmother’s smokehouse, lessons from Elders, and teachings from the land and sea.
Through the lens of Indigenous food systems, Qwustenuxun shows how every step - from making tools, to harvesting, preserving, cooking, and finally eating - carries language, culture, and values that connect us and the ocean. This talk offers a deeper understanding of how our food choices support not only healthy ecosystems and fishing families but also the revitalization of Indigenous cultures.
At Skipper Otto, we are passionate about reconnecting communities of fishers and seafood-loving members like yourself: communities that are often intentionally separated by the industrial food system for extraction and profit. And so, today and every day, we invite you to be part of a more just food system in Canada.
Whether it's joining us for our special webinar on October 14th or taking the time to read the Truth and Reconciliation recommendations and participating in other activities in your community, your support can make a world of difference.
