Summer appetizers don't get much greater than our sweet and spicy glazed spot prawns!
In this recipe, our flash-frozen spot prawns shine. Cooked shell-on in a sweet, sticky, and simple concoction of fish sauce, rice wine vinegar, chilli, garlic and honey, the flesh remains delicate and tender. Share with your guests as is, or serve with rice and Asian vegetables for a quick and easy dinner!
Servings: 9-14 prawns
Prep Time: ~10 minutes | Cook Time: ~5mins
Ingredients
- 1 6-ounce pack of flash-frozen spot prawns, thawed
- 2 tablespoons avocado oil
- 1 red Thai chilli, seeded and sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, sliced
- 1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
- 1 teaspoon fish sauce
- ½ lime, zest & juice
- ¼ cup honey
- Cilantro leaves, for garnish
- Lime wedges, for serving
Directions
- In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of avocado oil, chilli, garlic, rice wine vinegar, fish sauce, lime zest, juice, and honey. Whisk until well combined.
- Place a large pan over medium heat and add the remaining oil. Once hot, throw in your spot prawns. Pan fry for 1- 2 minutes on one side, before flipping. Cook for another minute on the other side, until the flesh is opaque.
- Add the sauce and let it reduce for about 30 seconds, shaking the pan constantly. Then transfer your prawns to a serving platter, drizzling over the sauce from the pan.
- Garnish with cilantro and lime wedges and enjoy!
Notes
- We like to cook them with their shells on, but if you’d prefer them without, take the time to quickly peel your prawns.
