Fishing is a difficult industry to plan, but we always like to let our members know what to expect for the coming year! We do our best to predict what our fishers will be catching – and when we expect it will be available, so we created this handy seasonality guide. Remember though: these are our best predictions only – eating with the ecosystem means we’re at the whim of Mother Nature!

Eating with the Ecosystem: Our Seasonality Guide

  • This chart shows month by month when we expect these species to be caught / harvested. And thanks to flash freezing, we’ll have these products in stock even months after they’ve been fished.
  • It is good to keep in mind that fishing is always a bit uncertain! There are many factors that may affect exactly when each species is available, including weather, fishing openings, abundance, and access to fish processing (cutting and freezing)! It’s not a hard science, so please keep that in mind when thinking about your sustainable seafood schedule!

As a reminder, fresh and live products are only available at our False Creek Fishermen’s Wharf pick-up location in Vancouver, however all our flash-frozen, canned, dried, and smoked products are available at all our pick-up locations across Canada.

Flash-Freezing Makes Eating Seafood Year Round Easy

All of our flash-frozen products keep their catch-day freshness and nutrition for a very long time. So eating sustainable seafood throughout the winter couldn’t be easier! As well the high vitamin D levels in seafood make it especially valuable to have in your diet during the dark winter months we have in Canada!
