Simple Whole Hake Recipe from Chef Ned Bell!

Allison Hepworth - April 29, 2020

We’re so excited to be able to offer BC hake to our members! Cooking a whole fish might sound like a daunting task, but we’ve got you covered with this super simple recipe from our friend Chef Ned Bell’s Instagram. We invited him to our processor’s as they cut our first batch of hake for us earlier in April, and Ned took a few fish home for some recipe testing!

For this simple whole hake recipe, you’ll need:

  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 tsp cracked black pepper
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lemon, zest and juice

Mix ingredients together, and brush over whole fish, inside and out. Let marinate for 30 mins.

Using a sharp knife, cut fish into steaks.

Bake fish on a sheet of parchment paper for 20 mins at 400 degrees.

Sprinkle 1 tsp kosher salt after baking, and enjoy!
