As we celebrated the first fresh salmon ever sold at the Trout Lake Farmers’ Market, Skipper Otto’s own experienced home fish cutter Gordon Tilley demystified filleting a whole fish! Gordon also happens to be Sonia’s dad, proving that the love for fish runs deep in the extended Strobel family.

In case you missed our filleting demos, here you can take a peak and start preparing for handling the fresh sockeye you’ll be taking home from our next pick up. Never again will a whole fish intimidate you, as long as you’re holding a really sharp knife and learning from our best!

The filleting demo at Trout Lake Farmers’ Market was just a little preview to the professional filleting workshops Skipper Otto’s will very soon start accepting registrations for, along with canning and smoking workshops. So stay tuned and grab your seat in the professional Skipper Otto’s Kitchen!
