You can bid farewell to your classic hot dog cook-up this Father's Day! Restaurant-worthy crab rolls are calling.
Servings: 8 small/medium-sized rolls (4 large rolls)
Prep Time: ~30 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 pack flash-frozen Dungeness crab clusters, thawed (approx. 2 lbs)
- 2 tbsp butter, melted (additional for buns)
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 6 drops hot sauce, optional
- ½ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 small shallot, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped
- 1 stalk celery, finely chopped
- 8 brioche hot dog buns
Directions
- Begin by carefully removing the meat from your thawed crab clusters. Set the meat aside in a medium mixing bowl.
- Add the melted butter to the bowl and toss to coat. Then, in a separate bowl, mix together the remaining ingredients (excluding the buns, of course!). Carefully fold in your crab meat, taking care not to break apart some of the larger chunks of meat.
- Once your mixture is prepared, spread a little butter on your hot dog buns and lightly toast them in a pan. Once golden, fill each bun with a generous helping of crab mixture. Garnish with a light sprinkling of fresh chives and Old Bay seasoning.
- Serve with a side of potato chips, pickles or salad and enjoy!
Notes
- Only want to make four crab rolls? You can! Our flash-frozen Dungeness crab clusters include two cooked crabs (a total of four clusters), and each crab is individually wrapped. This makes it easy for you to thaw what you need!
- Want to get the hard work done in advance? You can easily prep the filling in advance and store it in an air-tight container in the fridge. Or, simply break down the crab and prepare the crab meat ahead of time.
