We started Skipper Otto’s in 2008 to help Shaun’s dad, Otto, get a fair price for his catch and to connect directly with seafood lovers in Vancouver.
With the support of our members, Otto enjoyed many more seasons of fishing. As demand grew through members telling their friends, Shaun returned to fishing alongside his dad and eventually introduced our sons, Oliver and Lyndon, to commercial fishing.
Today, Skipper Otto’s supports dozens of fishing families like ours. We know you’ll love getting to know your fishermen and feeding your family seafood you can feel good about!

Why we’re different
Our fishermen are paid a fair price for their catch. The industrial system often underpays fishermen and we’re helping to change that.
Our fishermen use the low impact practices passed down by their parents and grandparents. This stands in stark contrast to an industry now dominated by big business and fish farms.
For every item, you’ll know the fisherman who caught it, where it was caught, and the boat and fishing gear used.

What you get
Our share credit system is flexible with no regular commitment needed. You decide how much to spend by choosing what you like, when you like.
You choose which products you want and when you want them. Use your share credits to shop year-round in our online store. Choose from our variety of wild, Ocean Wise products including:

Our fishermen uphold the highest standards in quality. They hand-pick each fish from their hooks and nets and place them into shaved sea ice or freeze them at sea. You get catch-day freshness with all our seafood.

Cutting out middle-men means that fishermen can be paid a living wage AND you pay prices similar to what you would pay elsewhere for a comparable product. Premium, fair trade seafood doesn’t have to break the bank.
